The word antipasto literally means before the meal, and this recipe makes a fantastic appetizer for holiday parties, Sunday dinners, or family gatherings in general. Simply choose your meat, cheese, and garnish, and voila! Antipasto.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of hard salami
- 1/2 pound of provolone cheese (don’t try to save money here – get the good stuff)
- 1/2 – 1 pound of fresh mozzarella cheese
- a jar of Gerkin pickles
- 1 package of cherry or grape tomatoes
- 1 jar of olives (whichever kind you prefer)
- fresh basil and balsamic vinegar for garnish
- Cut the cheeses and salami.
- Layer the cheeses and salami for an attractive presentation.
- Arrange the tomatoes, olives, and pickles around the layered meat and cheeses.
- Garnish with fresh basial and drizzle balsamic vinegar.
